Last year I was asked to shoot The VIBF… knowing virtually nothing about burlesque I went in without really knowing what t expect… It turned out to be the craziest, sauciest, sexiest, most hilarious, most out of this world awesome show I’ve ever seen, and I’m so grateful to have a chance to be a part of it.
This year I was grateful to be invited back for 3 more nights of whiskey and some of North America’s top burlesque talent. I can’t even begin to fathom the hours of blood, sweat and passion that go in to putting on a show of such world class caliber.
Each performance is entirely unique, creating audience reactions ranging from intimate and soulful to chest splitting hilarity (who knew a landscape painting session with Bob Ross could be so sexually charged?). Music ranges from jazz to classic rock to dubstep. The only constant between all the performances is that they are ridiculously entertaining, and wardrobes tend to “malfunction” in a spectacular fashion. If you haven’t seen the show, words can’t even come close to doing it justice… you really need to get out and experience it for yourself. Hopefully some of these photos help give you a peek in to how crazy a burlesque night can get 😉
Night 1 – The Rio Theater
Night 2 – The Vogue Theater
Night 3 – The Vogue Theater
Zany hats, whiskey and birthday suits… what could be a better use for a Tuesday night? Featuring special guest Via Rose, our long and leggy lady August Wiled, the firey innovation of Burgundy Brixx, the delectable charm of Voracious V, and Nikki Ninedoors with musical accompaniment by The Locksmiths!
It’s only fitting that the members of Pandora & The Locksmiths more or less dawned their birthday suits for their 2 year anniversary spectacular at Guilt & Co. this Tuesday. What they lacked in clothing they made up for in every other way possible. Yet another awesome night put on by an awesome group of girls. You really don’t want to miss their next show on October 9th. Check out their blog for more photos and info 🙂
The amazing exceptionally multi-talented live jazz singing, dancing and stripping burlesque troupe Pandora and The Locksmiths (w. August Wiled) asked me to come down to their risqué burlesque night at Guilt & Co in Gastown.
It really didn’t take much convincing.
As always they put on an amazing, hilarious, flirtatious, and very sexy show. You can catch them downstairs the 2nd Tuesday of every month. Next show is July 10th.

Wow… Just wow…
I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many wardrobe (mal?)functions in one night. I got hit with a well aimed headpiece, and my head is still spinning from the hypnotic twirling of countless nipple tassels…
Words can only do so much… hopefully some photos will help explain the sordidly mesmerizing madness that went down in The Vogue Theater last night. VIBF 2012, you have outdone yourselves. More photos up at The Snipe.
Some viewers may find the nipples in this post graphic…
From time to time I’ll get an email about some interesting new show or event that is happening somewhere in Vancouver. I never really know what to expect, so I usually encounter a surprise or two along the way. This time the show was at The Rio, and the surprise was that it consisted of a series of choreographed wardrobe malfunctions and featured a wide variety of thematic nipple tassel and pastie designs… it was a great show.
Visit the Vancouver International Burlesque Festival website for a full schedule. And check The Snipe for more photos 🙂
