Vince Vaccaro @ The Venue
Last night I was lucky enough to photograph Vince Vaccaro’s first headliner at “The Venue” in Vancouver. I only shot the first 3 songs, but he put on an absolutely amazing show. His friend and fellow islander Scott Stanton from Current Swell opened the night with a foot stomping acoustic set. Mr. Vaccaro joined in backing him on the harmonica before taking the stage with his band a few minutes later. He absolutely rocked the face off of the sold out show. I know of his folksy acoustic music from The Peak 100.5′s Peak Performance Project, but as I found out, there is certainly more to Vince than summertime acoustic guitar tunes. An action packed set left Vince turning up the electric guitar and jumping off sub-woofers, proving that while often “laid back”, this islander certainly also knows how to rock.

The Zolas @ The Vancouver Push Festival
Last night I was down at the 560 club covering the opening gala for The Vancouver Push Festival. Lots of cameras, lots of speeches, Mayor Robertson made an appearance, FREE FOOD. Overall it was quite the affair. That was just the warm-up act though. I was there to cover local Vancouver band The Zolas for sceneinthedark, and they didn’t disappoint. A great opening to what looks like a great festival.
